Go ahead and burn the forest for a tree.

I wonder to myself; how is it possible for BN to be so short-sighted?

Why would BN rather win a battle and lose the war? The tactics used in trying to take over Perak only paint itself as villain in the eyes of the public. In fact it is a sheer undermining of the people’s intelligence, if it thinks that we are all too blind to see the injustices that have been going on.

7th of May will forever be marked as one of the most unforgettable day in the history of Malaysia- the Black Day of Malaysia. I’m sorry, Tun, but I think your hope that the people have short memory may not materialise after all. It has been 40 years since the “May 13”; yet, the tragedy still lingers in the mind of many, especially those who witnessed it.

The live video recording, photos and reports on how the drama unfolded will always remind us, Malaysians, of how our democracy was raped throughout the three months of political tussle in Perak. Oh, how disgusting and ugly the scenes were. It will forever remind us on how NOT autonomous the police force, judiciary and civil servants had been (The crisis of confidence.)

Why had so many police being deployed on that day?
Why was Wong Chin Huat arrested just for calling people to wear black the day before?. Where was the threat ?
Why were there mass arrests on May 7th? Simply wearing black on that day or having breakfast at the mamak nearby the state secretariat did not warranted an arrest.
Why did the police go into the State Assembly hall and forcefully drag the speaker, YB Sivakumar out?
Why did the Sergeant at Arm refuse to follow the Speaker’s instructions?
Why did the Assembly secretary Abdullah Antong Sabri have the audacity to sign the letter to announce for a State Assembly sitting on May 7th without the consent of the Speaker?

Oh well, maybe only part of the judiciary is independent, since YB Nizar was declared the rightful MB of Perak on May 11th by the Kuala Lumpur High Court judge Datuk Abdul Aziz Abd Rahim . I had initially thought that this might be the best way out for both PR and BN. Maybe.., just maybe… BN has finally come to its senses and realised how much this fiasco had damage its image. However, it can’t seem to see itself as being wrong for starting this whole episode in having Hee Yit Foong, Osman Jailu and Jamaluddin defecting from PR to be BN-friendly. I had thought that the High Court’s judgment was the best way to solve this mess so that a fresh SNAP election could be called to end this shameful episode of power grab.

But how wrong I was. Within the next 24 hours, the scenario had completely reversed. The Court of Appeal judge Datuk Ramli Ali, had granted Zambry a stay of execution of the High Court’s judgement. So, it was back to square one. It was really like a joke, to have one MB who had been declared true by the court, to go to his office, only to be surrounded by many police and FRU trucks, and the next day, was asked to vacate by the BN-elected MB because a stay of execution had been obtained! . This must be a joke for the whole world !

I was so wrong - BN has not learnt its lesson. It continues to self-destruct. Yes, go ahead and continue to wrestle PR for Perak. Go ahead and burn the forest just for a tree. The price will be expensive come the next general election, because the people will not forget what happened on Feb 4th, March 3rd and May 7th.

I was really hoping that our new and seemingly more intelligent PM would be able to show the strength of his character in solving the crisis in time of need, though he seemed to be the one who triggered the crisis, I was hoping that he could at least prove us wrong by making sound actions on this matter….. Now, he seemed to be passing the bug to the “MB”.

This saga has not come to an end as yet. The whole country and the whole world is watching. We are supposed to be a developed nation in not many years to come. I think we’ve been moving backwards instead!

WTH they think they're doing??!?

to treat the Speaker like this!

Sivakumar being dragged out of the House (Pic courtesy of Sinar Harian)

from MKini:
2.41pm: Several uniformed police personnel grab hold of Sivakumar and forcibly remove him from the speaker's chair.
He was then dragged out of the House by a group of plainclothes personnel wearing tags which read 'official'. Sivakumar resists and shouts, "I am the legal speaker. Why am I being treated like this?" It cannot be ascertained if these were police personnel.

Pakatan reps try to shield him but more plainclothes personnel enter the House and manage to breakthrough the human barricade.

Several Pakatan reps are also dragged out and the ensuing melee sees several flower pots in the assembly are smashed.

*******

I am angry!!! Why must the police be involved in this? Must it be so obvious?! They really think that the Rakyat is stupid or what?

Activist Wong Chin Huat arrested under Sedition Act

I really don't understand what's going on in their mind. Do they really think that by arresting Wong Chin Huat because of the press statement he made, will cause the people to feel intimidated? Then, there will not be a Black Malaysia tomorrow?

I think it will only backfired, people will be more angry and more will start wearing black in solidarity for him as well.

Tomorrow will be the day to watch. Malaysians, will we stand united against this utter incongruous act of the authority? Then this is truly, One Malaysia, where the people from all walks of life stand united for a deserving cause, to fight against injustice.

from Malaysiakini:
Activist Wong arrested under Sedition Act
May 5, 09 6:36pm
Poll reform group Bersih spokesperson Wong Chin Huat has been arrested under the Sedition Act tonight by a team of police officers at his home in Taman Sri Sentosa in Kuala Lumpur.

"I tried negotiating with the police officer (on the phone) but they won't listen to me.

"They didn't want to tell under what section of the Sedition Act (that the arrest was made) and who the complainant is."

Bon has since unable to contact Wong. The police have also seized Wong's desktop computer.

It is learnt that Wong has been brought to Commercial Crimes Investigation Department (CCID) headquarters in Kuala Lumpur for questioning.

According to CCID chief Koh Hong Sun, the Bersih activist is being investigated under Section 4(1) of the Sedition Act.

If found guilty, Wong could face a jail term of up to three years.

Koh was reported by Bernama as saying that the police would decide tomorrow whether to extend Wong's detention.

It is not clear whether Wong's arrest is linked to a press conference he called earlier today.

At the press conference, Wong (photo) had urged the public to wear black on May 7, to protest the Perak state government takeover by Barisan Nasional which has been seen as undemocratic and unconstitutional.

Wong issued a statement on behalf of Bersih, saying that the protest was aimed at newly-minted Prime Minister Najib Abdul Razak, who is widely credited as the mastermind behind the February power grab.

The Bersih’s campaign slogan "1BlackMalaysia: Democracy first, elections now", is a play on Najib’s "1Malaysia: People first, performance now" tagline.

May 7 is also the date where BN Menteri Besar Zambry Abdul Kadir is convening the Perak state legislative assembly to oust speaker V Sivakumar and pass motions to legitimise his government.

Police have warned both sides from creating unrest when the assembly meets on Thursday.

'Paint every town, village black'

In his statement today, Wong said that the 1BlackMalaysia campaign is a peaceful, yet powerful message of "civil disobedience".

"We want to let them know that people are the politicians’ bosses and no politician can disregard public opinion and escape punishment in the next general election," he said.

He urged the public to “paint every state, territory, town and village black” with clothes, headbands, hats, turbans, veils, armbands, ribbons and stickers.

"Let us be united in one black colour and let’s show the world that the 1Malaysia under Najib is 1BlackMalaysia living in darkness," he said.

Bersih is a coalition of opposition parties and NGOs who have been pressuring the authorities to improve election laws and administration.

1BLACKMalaysia : 7th May 2009

Come 7th of May, will Malaysia be painted with black, as a disapproval from the people of how the BN government has turned the Perak into a state of joke? ~ an unnecessary constitutional crisis, a coup-detat, an endless court hearings, an undermining of the people's intelligence and whatnot.

"Will the people turn out in droves? Will they hit the streets in tens of thousands like what they did on Nomination Day in Bukit Gantang? Are we going to see the storming of the Bastille on 7 May 2009?"

I will not be able to make it to Ipoh, but I will definitely be part of this historical moment by wearing black from across the sea!
