What does Teoh Beng Hock have to do with Yasmin Ahmad? What does all this have to do with us?
Before Yasmin Ahmad left us, she said in July 16, 2009:
“Someone please wake me from this nightmare and tell me that this did not happen in my country and that Teoh Beng Hock is safe at home with his family.”
Beng Hock’s inquest is ongoing. Yasmin has left us with glimpses the kind of Malaysia she envisions. Let’s come together to remember them and the important issues brought to our awareness because of them.
No Political Speeches.
Just tributes, reflection. and imagining a Better Malaysia together the way both Beng Hock and Yasmin did with their work and life example.

"
When asked by another lawyer Sreekant Pillay, who is also representing the Selangor government, Mazli said that no checks were done for fingerprints on Teoh's body, clothes and especially the belt which was torn."
more here: '
Teoh could have been dragged'
Mazli Jusoh is Selangor police forensic expert Chief Inspector.
No check for fingerprints on his body, or clothes were done????? How ridiculous!
Is this sheer incompetency or in-your-face way of cover-up?

Sigh. Are we, the Rakyats been treated as fools again?
We ask for Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) to be set up to investigate Beng Hock's death, NOT only on the MACC's interrogation procedures if it violates human rights!
Setting up an inquiry to probe Beng Hock's death headed by a Magistrate IS NOT WHAT the public want.
This cabinet's decision is tantamount to treating the people of Malaysia like an idiot.
Read
Gobind's take on why the
cabinet's decision nonsensical.
" One thing is certain. A magistrate has wide powers but only in so far as finding the circumstances leading to and the causes of death in that particular case are concerned.A magistrate may not go the extra distance to inquire into the propriety of the investigative procedures adopted on the deceased, as in the case of Teoh.A Royal Commission of Inquiry on the other hand may be asked to inquire into both. This means the RCI may look into the circumstances leading to and the causes of death of a person in custody and also the sufficiency or otherwise of measures existing to protect the rights of individuals who are detained for questioning. What comes across as strange in the decision of the cabinet is the separation of the two. If the cabinet did not feel it fit to set up a RCI, then one would fall back on an inquest. But where the cabinet decides to set up a RCI, then what is the logic behind separating the two?Not only would there be two separate hearings held, which will involve twice the time and cost, there could be a serious problem if the findings of both were different. That would result in an absurd and highly embarrassing position for the government. "
Azmi Sharom in his
Aide’s death a tragedy for the entire nation's article in The Star mentioned that
"
But the death of Teoh Beng Hock is more than just about the death of one man. It is about the future of democracy in this nation. At a time when young men and women feel the change in the air, when they feel a difference can finally come and they seek to do nothing more than serve the public in thankless tasks, they see that this desire to do good can be rewarded with death. What does this bode for the future?Teoh’s story is a tragedy for those who loved him and those who knew him.It is also, sadly, a tragedy for the entire nation; a tragedy made all the worse if we do not go on striving for the values and ideals that this young man obviously believed in.The creation of an independent investigative body is necessary."
Indeed, this is a tragedy for the entire nation.
Now, is the time for us, Malaysians to stand united, to demand for our right to know how
a young man who had so willingly lived his life to fight for a better Malaysia, died performing his duty in the MACC headquarter!
Let's all march into the
KL-Selangor Chinese Assembly Hall
at 7.30 tonight
for Teoh Beng Hock's memorial
as a show of solidarity with his family as well as our disgust towards the Cabinet's decision for trying to fool us, yet again!!!

Tears rolled down as I watched the tribute by Beng Hock's fiancee
here.
Many are angry at what happened to Beng Hock.
Many are saying that they have lost confidence in the Malaysian police and the MACC. The public will not accept whatever investigation done by the Police.
Hence, many requested for a Royal Commission of Inquiry to be set up...
They want truth and justice to prevail.
They talked and ranted about their anger and anguish at this unfortunate episode.
But, they only talk about it. They talked and they complained. Talk is cheap.
How many actually walk their walk?
There are about 15,611 members and counting in the "
Justice for Comrade Beng Hock" Facebook group. This group demands for answers and detailed explanation for his demise. They demanded for justice.
Yet, when it is time to show supports, how many actually walk their talk???
Some 500 people gathered outside the MACC building holding candlevigils to mourn Beng Hock's death on Thursday.About 300 people demanded for proper investigation to be done on Friday morning, outside MACC building.800 people turned up at the Memorial service in Seri Kembangan on the same night.3000 packed the Kelana Jaya Stadium on Sunday afternoon, in memory of Beng Hock.
More than 2000 people bid farewell to Beng Hock in Malacca yesterday.
What happened to the growing number of 15, 611 members of the Facebook group,
"Justice for Comrade Beng Hock"??? Where were they???
How will the government take us seriously when the people themselves are not willing to show support in the events demanded justice for Beng Hock???
Imagine if this growing number of 15, 611 members of the Facebook group,
"Justice for Comrade Beng Hock" were there at the protest? What would the result be???

"...don't worry about mum and dad, we will take care of them....""... your wife and your child, we will look after them..."Those were the last few lines from his sister's tribute during the funeral which broke the heart of many who attended the funeral this morning.

The funeral was sad and sombre. Perhaps, the part which angered me was when the reporters kept hoarding in front of Anwar Ibrahim and Chua Jui Meng when they were seated in the front seat, soon after they arrived. I thought that was rather inappropriate of the reporters because the funeral service was ongoing. By doing that, they were actually blocking the guests from seeing others who were called to pay their last respect. It was simply disrespectful to the deceased and the family.
Reporters taking the pictures of the big guns while the funeral service was still ongoing.
At one point, Beng Hock's mum who was seated outside the house, was crying uncontrollably. She kept saying that, she is waiting for his calls, why did he leave so soon. It was really heart-wrenching to see that. I couldn't bring myself to take any photos of that scenes.
As Beng Hock is laid to rest today, I hope that truth and justice about his death will prevail and that his death will not be in vain. I pray that his family and most importantly his fiancée will find strength to go through this trying time. May God's peace be with them.
Belows are some of the pictures from the funeral.

I'm so upset.

I was at the protest at Plaza Masalam where the MACC's office is, this morning.
I was and still upset and disturbed over
Teoh Beng Hock's death in the MACC's HQ yesterday.
What happened at Plaza Masalam today has also left me feeling more disturbed and lousy.
The police force, have they got no sympathy over friends and supporters of Teoh Beng Hock who are still mourning over his death while wanting to seek clarification on how he died?

All we wanted to do was to ask for a proper investigation to be done, that those who are involved be held responsible, and that there will be justice for him.
Why, why, why, can't the friends and supporters of Teoh Beng Hock mourn in peace?
There were at least 6 big FRU trucks, 2 small ones and many police trucks. Is there a need to mobilise such a big team to crack down only 300 of peaceful protestors?

The police cannot seem to stand being there and not doing anything.
I was there.
I saw how the police threatened to arrest the speaker, when they said that "no speech is allowed", while the crowd moved forward to protect the speaker.
I heard it when a police officer commanded the '
squat tangkapan' to '
tangkap dan letak mereka dalam Black Maria'.
I was screaming, "
Polis ganas! Polis ganas" at
the top of my lung with the rest of the crowd, repeatedly, when I saw how the police dragged a friend of Beng Hock, for over 30meter on the floor before releasing him.

I was very upset when I saw how
others were manhandled by the police.
I saw how Dr. Xaxier was been taken away by the police while speaking to ask the rest of the people to calm down, and to march to the Dataran Kemerdekaan after the PR's leaders have finished talking to the MACC.
No, I don't trust the police. I don't trust them at all looking at how they handled today. They always seem to only disturb the peaceful assemblies of those who are not on the same camp of their master, while those in the other side, are left untouched. The police does not even listen and respect the state leaders!

How can we expect
the police to do a thorough and transparent investigation??
RPK is right, all these so called independent parties are actually part of BN. How can we trust them???
Will
justice be served, when all the components which supposed to perpetuate truth and justice are merely the puppet of those walking in the corridor of power?
History tells us that blood must be spilled in order for reformation to take place. Will this incident be the 'blood' that would raise more
anak-anak Bangsa Malaysia to join this march to reformation?
There will be a rally in this Sunday for Beng Hock. Will you be there too?
